A Houston-native, my love for the islands in the middle of the Pacific made its way to the Lone Star State. At the tender age of 5, I began my journey as a hula dancer and was taught in many halaus (hula schools). I currently am a halau dancer at Halau Hula Olana from Pearl City, Hawaii. Under the direction of Kumu Hula (hula teacher) Howard and Olana Ai, but was originally a student of their daughter - Natalie Ai Kamauu, 5 time Na Hoku Hanohano winner, Miss Aloha Hula 1990 (the gold medalist of hula crowned at the prestigious Merrie Monarch festival), and Grammy award winning artist. I also competed in Tahitian dance and learned under Perle Renvoye, Heiva I Tahiti 2018 winner. And currently under the direction of Kanani Asuega, 2019 'Ori Tahiti World Championship, 1st Place Award winner.
I'm excited to continue the family’s legacy of Tropical Rhythms to serve the community through culture, and proud to have continued on this family’s legacy. No stage is big or small, but every opportunity given is a blessing. I simply am a vessel for those who have taught me. My mission and responsibility is to always spread Aloha in every life motion taken. And to serve the Houston community that I love so much, just as my family first did.
